The United Way campaign at your place of employment is an opportunity to direct your contribution to the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA).
Grounded in a philosophy that people need a hand up, not a hand out, MIFA’s
programs help the community forge lasting solutions to life’s critical problems. The mission of MIFA is to change our community by helping change lives.
MIFA was founded in September 1968, after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., by religious and lay leaders who saw a tremendous need for an organization that would bring all segments of the community together for a common cause: to help people out of poverty and into productive lives. Today, MIFA is a preeminent social service organization that serves more than 60,000 people a year. Our programs support seniors through
MIFA's home-delivered meals,
MIFA Transit and
Senior Companion programs, a
Handyman program, and the
MIFA Long-Term Care Ombudsman program. MIFA helps families in crisis through our
Emergency Services,
MIFA Life Skills Institute and
MIFA Housing Opportunities, and MIFA equips teens for success by preparing them for college with our
COOL (College Offers Opportunities for Life) program. We continue to need your help, because MIFA is the only provider of these vital community services.

- Use page two of the United Way form (the yellow sheet).
- The bottom of Item three includes the following statement: "You may also support another health and human services organization in the United Way of the Mid-South service area."
- Enter MIFA as the agency name, and leave the donation number blank.
