Love Caps
First Baptist welcomes MIFA's Love Caps program!
In April 2009, MIFA’s Love Caps Program moved to
First Baptist Church! Love Caps is still a MIFA program, but it will be operated by Pam Stokes at First Baptist. This program mobilizes creative volunteers to knit and crochet over 3,000 caps and lap robes each year to be distributed during the holidays to our neighbors in need of warmth and encouragement. Participants of all ages work at their own pace, either individually or in groups, without the burden of deadlines, quotas, dues, or required meetings.
Pam Stokes is the new Coordinator of the Love Caps Program. For more information, contact Linda Marks, MIFA’s Inter-Faith Coordinator, at 527-0208, ext. 218, or

How it started
Founded in 1989 by a single knitter, MIFA's
Love Caps program mobilizes creative volunteers to knit and crochet
caps and lap robes for our neighbors in need of warmth and
encouragement. Participants of all ages work at their own pace, either
individually or in groups, without the burden of deadlines, quotas,
dues or required meetings. Everyone is invited to attend events
throughout the year and many choose to enter our annual Love Caps
contest in the Mid-South Fair.
Program guidelines
We use only washable yarn for easy laundering.
We accept donations of all types of yarn throughout the year.
MIFA can supply basic patterns, or you may use your own patterns.
Lap robes may be made with any pattern and should measure approximately 36" x 36".
Caps may be donated to agencies other than MIFA. Please report
the number of items to MIFA so we can add them to the annual total.
- Finished items are accepted during the months of October, November, and December.
- Turn in at the front desk at MIFA headquarters, 910 Vance at East St. or mail to MIFA Love Caps, P.O. Box 3130, Memphis, TN 38173
